The future of the automotive industry will likely leave fossil fuels behind. Mercedes-Benz has officially entered the electric vehicle class with an all-new platform that features a modular chassis, high-performance electric powertrain and the latest connectivity equipment the automaker has to offer. When the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS in Indianapolis, IN goes on sale, two primary models will be available EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4MATIC®. Owners will be able to expect the electric sedan to be able to travel several hundred miles on a single charge and, when there is access to DC quick charging equipment, more than 180 miles of range can be added in as few as 15 minutes.

Potential owners of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS will never be at a loss for performance. The EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4MATIC® both employ what the automaker calls a permanently excited synchronous motor. Versions of the EQS with the 4MATIC® all-wheel-drive will actually use two permanently excited synchronous motors. Mercedes-Benz of Indianapolis customers interested in the EQS 450+ can expect the vehicle to make the equivalent of 329 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. It will be able to accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in 5.5 seconds. The EQS 580 4MATIC® will produce 516 horsepower and 611 pound-feet of torque. Owners of this version of the 2022 EQS will be able to hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. Both EQS iterations have a top speed of 130 miles per hour.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS will be the automaker’s first vehicle that can be outfitted with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience Hyperscreen technology. Our manufacturing partner is taking the idea of touchscreen and digital displays to the next level. The driver will be able to customize the display that measures more than 56 inches long and covers a total of 2.6 square-feet.

There isn’t much the MBUX system combined with the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen can’t do. Just about everything equipped with the vehicle’s interior is designed to make the driver and passengers as comfortable as possible. This will include air that is filtered before it enters the passenger cabin.

Rear passengers can use the activation phrase, ‘Hey Mercedes,’ to access its many functions. Buyers who choose not to have the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen equipped will still have two large touchscreens to work with, a 12.3-inch display for the gauge cluster and a 12.8-inch center display.
